Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus

Amblyopia ("lazy eye") affects between 2% and 4% of children on school age (3 years and older). Refractive errors in infancy (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism) are the most frequent cause of school failure.

We recommend an ophthalmologic screening in the early years of life (preferably before 4 years), and then annually until full maturation of the visual system (8-10 years).
